More than a century of magical moments
It all starts with Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen. Two young engineers with big dreams. They met in 1925, just after graduating from school, and connected instantly over their love of experiments. Little did they know, they’d go on to create iconic sound and vision products that would change the face of the next century.
Our story so far
Working from the attic of a Danish manor, Quistrup, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen made the discovery that singlehandedly changed radio forever. In 1925, they invented The Eliminator: a device that allowed people to plug their radio directly into the wall, without the need for a battery – a complete revelation. 100 years on, their innovative spirit still lives in everything we do. It’s what drives us: to change how we all see, hear and feel the world. From the beginning, we’ve not only predicted, but shaped home design aesthetics. Our first 100 years saw us reinvent the turntable and create touch-sensitive controls that redefined how technology could look. We also created universal remote controls, as well as connected home speaker setups. Today, our goal is clear – our new releases should lead the industry in craft and design, and in circularity and longevity. What firsts will the next century hold?
